In the 1st arrondissement of Paris is the Saint-Eustache Church. It dates back to the 16th Century that was built between 1532 and 1632. It was considered a church of loyalty because of its proximity to the Royal Palace at the Louvre. The church has some of the largest organs in Paris. The construction of the church was never completed which gives the church its odd appearance. It is one of the largest churches in Paris. It is popular for its beautiful interior decorations in renaissance style.
It is situated at the entrance of Paris’ ancient markets, Les Halles, and the beginning of Montorgueil, the Église de Saint-Eustache is considered a late Gothic architecture masterpiece. The reputation of the church was strong enough at that time to be chosen as the location for a young Louis XIV to receive communion. The famous Mozart also chose the sanctuary as the location for his mother’s funeral. There are famous children that are baptized here too like Richelieu, Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, future Madame de Pompadour and Molière, who was also married here during the 17th century. Within the walls of the church, the last rites for Anne of Austria, Turenne and Mirabeau were pronounced. Also Marie de Gournay was buried there.
